Fjóla will assume the role on September 1st and will be based at both locations.

Fjóla graduated from the University of Nuestra Senora de La Paz in Bolivia in 2000, completed her medical and surgical degree from the University of Iceland in 2002, pursued specialized training in neurology for one year at the University of Iceland, and obtained her specialist qualifications in family medicine from the same university in 2015.

Fjóla has long and extensive experience in the healthcare sector. In 2003-2006 Fjóla worked as a district physician in Djúpivogur at the Healthcare Institution of East Iceland, in 2006-2007 as a department physician/specialty physician in the neurology department at Sahlgrenska hospital in Gothenburg, in 2009-2015 as a doctor/specialty physician at HSN Dalvík, and in 2013-2015 as a doctor/specialty physician at the Akureyri Hospital (SAk). In 2015-2022 Fjóla worked as a specialist in general medicine at HSN Dalvík, specialist in the rehabilitation and geriatrics department at SAk 2023-2024 and as a specialist in the psychiatric field at SAK 2024-2025.

Fjóla lives in Dalvík with her family.
