Kristína Björk Arnórsdóttir has been appointed as the Data Protection Officer for HSN and SAk.

Kristína started her position on May 5th and will be based at Hvannavellir HSN and Akureyri Hospital. This is the first joint position for HSN and SAk in this important field.

Kristína holds a BA and a master's degree in law from the University of Akureyri, where she wrote both her BA and master's theses in the field of health law. She has worked as a lawyer at a law firm, gaining extensive experience in various legal fields. Kristína has also worked as a lawyer in the rector's office at the University of Akureyri, where she also served as a Data Protection Officer. "I am grateful for the trust placed in me to take on the role of Data Protection Officer for two of the largest and most important institutions in Northern Iceland and to have the opportunity to participate in the excellent collaborative project that HSN and SAk are undertaking. Data protection is a crucial aspect of healthcare services, where extensive sensitive personal data is handled daily. My main tasks will be to ensure that the institutions comply with all data protection legislation requirements, provide education, and more. The job involves exciting and challenging tasks that I look forward to tackling, and I am equally excited to be part of these great teams."

Life Motto: "I don't write prescriptions, but I read the fine print that comes with them."

Kristína lives in Akureyri with her husband and four children and has a great interest in health law, data protection, safety culture, and how to promote increased patient safety by ensuring the legal security of healthcare professionals.

We warmly welcome Kristína to our outstanding team.
