The Healthcare Institution of North Iceland (HSN) in Sauðárkrókur has recently received two generous donations from the Lions Club of Sauðárkrókur that will be of great benefit to the institution’s operations.

The donations consist of a fully equipped nitrous oxide (laughing gas) unit and a specially designed rehabilitation treadmill, with a total value of ISK 2,360,000.

These donations will significantly enhance services for patients. The treadmill is specifically intended for individuals undergoing rehabilitation and is well suited for therapeutic training, as it offers a soft walking surface and is easy to use. The nitrous oxide unit will be used to help reduce anxiety in patients undergoing minor medical procedures, such as vaccinations and wound care.

“We receive these donations with great gratitude and joy,” says Sigurbjörg Ólafsdóttir, Medical Director of HSN in Sauðárkrókur. “Gifts like these are of great importance to our work and contribute to improved services for our patients.”

“The equipment will be extremely useful in our daily operations and will improve facilities for treatment and rehabilitation,” says Fanney Ísfold Karlsdóttir, Chief Physiotherapist at HSN in Sauðárkrókur. “The treadmill is particularly well designed to meet the needs of physiotherapy and will be invaluable in our rehabilitation work.

”Donations from charitable organizations such as the Lions Club are crucial to healthcare services and enable us to improve facilities and patient care beyond what would otherwise be possible.
