The next steps are to identify the needs and priorities and continue to develop telehealth solutions to be most useful in rural areas. In addition to Memaxi, HSN in Blönduós has also used pharmaceutical robots in home homes.
Extremely valuable to receive this grant
The Ministry of Health allocated grants to projects in the field of telehealth services based on the government's regional programme. The aim of this action is to increase and improve access to healthcare services through innovation and the use of technology and communications in the implementation of services.
A total of five institutions received a grant from the Fund totalling ISK 43.2 million, one of which was HSN, which received a grant of ISK 10 million for the implementation of the app Memaxi in welfare services. The allocation of grants was based on priorities in the healthcare system and the expected benefits of the projects.
“It is extremely valuable for HSN in Blönduós to receive this grant. We want to be progressive and use welfare technology solutions to improve service to our clients and to improve access to it. This is a big step towards the vision that service will be provided more and more in the homes and that residents in our area will be allowed to live at home for as long as they choose,” says Helga Margrét Jóhannesdóttir, nursing superintendant in Blönduós.

What is memaxi?
MEMAXI is a communication and organizational solution that bridges the gap between the recipients, their families and the service providers. By connecting all the service providers, the service quality is improved and it becomes easier to organize the assistance and exchange information.
Service users receive a tablet with a simple and graphical interface that displays the main information of the day such as the program, notes, photos, guestbook and more. Service providers and family members can make video calls to beneficiaries, send photos and add to their program. Memaxi therefore facilitates all the organization around assistance and care, improves communication, breaks isolation and provides the long-term beneficiaries with the necessary safety and calm.
