Employee Satisfaction Continues to Rise at the Healthcare Institution of North Iceland

18th February 2026

It is very encouraging that the results of the Institution of the Year 2025 survey show that employee satisfaction within HSN continues to increase, as the institution’s overall score has risen year‑on‑year.

The Healthcare Institution of North Iceland places strong emphasis on providing high‑quality services and ensuring that staff feel good in their work. Both of these factors are regularly measured in an organized manner so that developments can be monitored and improvements made when needed.

Last week, the results from the Institution of the Year 2025 survey were released. It is very encouraging to see that employee satisfaction within HSN continues to increase, as the institution’s overall score has risen compared to previous years. HSN now ranks 13th among large institutions. In the survey, questions are grouped into nine main categories: management, workplace morale, salary terms, working conditions, work flexibility, institutional image, professional autonomy, satisfaction and pride, and equality. Of these nine categories, seven improved year‑on‑year, highlighting a positive trend in the institution’s working environment.

In recent years, systematic efforts have been made to improve the work environment, communication, and teamwork. These efforts appear to be yielding results in the form of increased employee satisfaction, which is a key foundation for providing good service to users of the healthcare system.

HSN will continue to prioritize regular measurements, open dialogue, and continuous improvement with the aim of strengthening both employee satisfaction and the quality of services.

Institution of the Year is a collaborative project between Sameyki, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, the City of Reykjavík, and other public institutions and workplaces across the country.
