Invitation

The establishment of the Akureyri Clinic - knowledge and counselling center on ME and the long-term COVID-19 survivors will take place on Friday 16 August at 14 pm at the Akureyri High School (Kvosin).

The Minister of Health and the directors of the Akureyri Hospital and the Healthcare Institution of North Iceland will sign a declaration of cooperation on the establishment of the clinic.

Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a serious chronic fatigue disorder. Some of those who have contracted COVID-19 have residual ME-like symptoms. The aim of the establishment of the Akureyri Clinic is to strengthen services for individuals with ME and long-term COVID-19 residual symptoms, to promote social awareness, to support registration and to utilize opportunities for research.

The Akureyri Clinic will have a coordinating role at national level and lead cooperation with Landspítali and other parties that treat ME patients such as rehabilitation institutions and specialist physicians in institutions.

Light refreshments after the meeting.

All of you are warmly welcome.
