Service survey in nursing homes HSA
14th January 2026
A service survey was conducted among residents of nursing homes of the Health Institute of East Iceland (HSA) in November and December 2025. At the same time, a similar service survey was conducted among relatives of residents of HSA nursing homes.
The survey sought to cover the following aspects: Care, autonomy, respect, well-being, facilities and environment. It was based on similar surveys that have been conducted in other nursing homes in the country in recent years. Sigurveig Gísladóttir, professional director of nursing in the nursing department of HSA, supervised the survey and summarized it.
In total, HSA nursing homes have 113 nursing rooms in 6 nursing homes: Sundabúð in Vopnafjörður, Dyngja in Egilsstaðir, Fossahlíð in Seyðisfjörður, Hulduhlíð in Eskifjörður, Uppsalir in Fáskrúðsfjörður and the nursing department in Neskaupstaður. The rooms are some used as rest rooms, one hospital room and 2 palliative care rooms.
