Influenza vaccination kits at HSA this fall

14th October 2026

At-risk groups will be offered influenza vaccinations at HSA health centers after mid-October, and others who want vaccinations in November.

Two types of vaccine will be used for influenza vaccinations this fall, according to information from the Chief Epidemiologist.

  1. A conventional inactivated influenza vaccine suitable for children from 6 months of age and adults. The vaccine is expected to be available from mid-October.

  2. A live attenuated nasal spray vaccine intended for all children aged 2 to 4 years and for children aged 5 to 17 years who are in risk groups. Children who cannot use the nasal spray vaccine can receive the traditional vaccine if it is suitable. The vaccine is only intended for these defined groups and cannot be purchased at health centers. The vaccine is expected to be available in early October.

Priority risk groups

HSA will follow the recommendations of the Chief Epidemiologist and prioritize vaccinations in the first few weeks for people in risk groups.
The date on which vaccinations will begin will be announced later.

The risk groups are:

  • People aged 60 and older.

  • Children between 6 months and 5 years of age.

  • Children and adults suffering from chronic heart, lung, kidney and liver diseases, obesity, diabetes, malignant diseases and other immunosuppressive diseases.

  • Pregnant individuals.

  • Healthcare workers caring for people in risk groups.

  • People who are considered at risk of co-infection with influenza and avian influenza due to their work, according to the definition of the Chief Epidemiologist.

People in risk groups do not pay for vaccination.

Vaccination offered to others in November

After efforts have been made to vaccinate people in risk groups, others will be invited to come to health centers and receive vaccination.
This can be expected in November, but the exact timing will be announced later.
People who are not in risk groups do not pay the traditional visit fee to the health center but pay for the vaccine according to the tariff.
