GEV is responsible for developing Social Care Standards based on the best possible knowledge of policy areas in the agency’s field of work. The Social Care Standards for social services for people with disabilities have already been published. They were prepared in close cooperation with the main stakeholders in the policy area and are based on international obligations that the Icelandic government has undertaken and the legal environment that is based on them. The Social Care Standards are not only intended as guidance for municipalities and other those who provide services to people with disabilities, but also as a powerful tool for both supervisors, service providers and users of the service in evaluating its implementation.
