According to the regulation, jobseekers who have confirmed their job search between 20 November and 3 December 2025 and are insured under the unemployment insurance law in November are entitled to receive the December supplement.

Amounts:

The maximum amount of the compensation is ISK 109.469 and it is never less than ISK 27.367.

Tax is paid on the December bonus

Conditions:

Confirm job search between 20 November and 3 December 2025.

They are considered insured in November 2025.

Those who have been registered as unemployed for a total of ten months or longer during 2025 are entitled to the full December supplement in the amount of ISK 109,469.

Individuals who have been registered as unemployed for less than ten months or more receives a proportionate amount of compensation in accordance with their right to unemployment benefits provided they confirm their job search between 20 November and 3 December 2025. The amount is determined by the time the applicant has been unemployed and their insurance ratio under the Unemployment Insurance law.

A jobseeker who was registered unemployed for part of November but deregistered before 20 November is still entitled to the supplement, provided they received unemployment benefits for November or served a waiting period.

Regardless of registration time and insurance ratio, the December supplement shall never be lower than ISK 27,367. This is subject to the individual being insured, registered, and confirming their job search between 20 November and 3 December.
