The course covers all the main aspects of occupational safety and health and is designed for safety officers and security guards. It is also suitable for others who are interested in occupational safety and health issues and want to improve their working environment. The course is paid for by the employer according to the law.
After the course, students should have increased knowledge of occupational safety and health issues and have the tools to improve their working environment, reduce the number of accidents and sick days and generally contribute to a better well-being of employees.
About the course
When is the course taught?
The course is available throughout the year. It starts when the student registers and is open for eight weeks from registration.
Organization of studies
The course is taught online, in the education system of the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health in Iceland. Students can study wherever and whenever it suits them. It takes approximately six hours to complete the course.
Study material
The course covers all the main issues concerning the working environment of staff:
Noise, lighting, indoor air and ventilation
Materials and chemical hazards
Safety of machines and devices
Physical risk factors
Psychosocial risk factors
Health protection at work
Occupational accidents and accident prevention
Use of personal protective equipment
The course discusses how to make a health and safety plan at the workplace.
There are guidelines for creating a risk assessment and health and safety plan that includes, among other things, a prevention plan and a policy against bullying, harassment and violence in the workplace.
Laws on accommodation, hygiene and safety at workplaces are introduced, as well as rules established in accordance with them.
Test
A few questions must be answered at the end of each chapter in order to continue with the material.
