The Ísland.is App

10th October 2025

The website of the Icelandic Police now on Ísland.is

The website of the Icelandic police and the National Commissioner of the Police is now on Ísland.is, but the URL remains unchanged from before, www.logreglan.is.

The project is part of the police’s digital journey aimed at improving accessibility and overall service for users.

Rannveig Þórisdóttir, Head of the Service Division at the Office of the National Commissioner of the Police:
“In recent years we have worked systematically on the police’s digital journey, and much has been achieved that makes life easier for both citizens and staff. Increased user-centred service through digital processes is not only a technical matter but also a means of strengthening trust and transparency in our work.”

Birna Íris Jónsdóttir, CEO of Digital Iceland:
“We welcome the police onto the Ísland.is website. We see good opportunities in coordinating information provisions and cooperation among public bodies in which the police plays a key role, for example regarding joint projects of the police and the district commissioners, the Icelandic Transport Authority and the courts.”

The websites of the District Prosecutor, the Director of Public Prosecutions and the district commissioners are already under the umbrella of Ísland.is, and work is also underway on a new website for all judicial levels and the Judicial Administration.

The content on the police’s new website has been reviewed, with an emphasis on clear and useful communication to diverse users. The project is carried out in cooperation with Digital Iceland, whose role is to support the digital journey of public institutions. The police have already implemented the Digital Mailbox, the Authentication system, the Application System, My Pages, Straumurinn, and the Ísland.is app.
