Two arrested with 12 kg of cocaine at Keflavík Airport

The police in Suðurnes are currently investigating an issue, in cooperation with the customs at Keflavík Airport, regarding the import of 12 kg of cocaine.

On 23 May last year, the customs stopped the movement of two individuals at Leifur Eiríksson Airport, who were found to have 6 kilograms of cocaine in their luggage.

The two men are currently in custody and came from France. They are believed to be connected and the police are working to inform them of their role and others who may be connected to the case.

The police in Suðurnes significantly increased the amount of drugs imported to Iceland between years. During the whole year 2024, the police in Suðurnes seized 35.5 kg of cocaine, but for the year to 2025, 42.5 kg of cocaine has been seized.
