Þórarna Gró appointed CEO of HSA until September 1st

Minister of Health Alma D. Möller has appointed Þórörna Gró Friðjónsdóttir to serve as CEO of the Eastern Iceland Health Institute (HSA) from June 1, when Guðjón Hauksson steps down and takes over as CEO of Akureyri Hospital.

Þórörna holds a BS in psychology and an MS in corporate finance from the University of Iceland. She has worked at HSA for the past eight years, first as Operations Manager at Egilsstaðir and Vopnafjörður, but for the past four years she has worked as Human Resources Manager at HSA.

The position of CEO of HSA has been advertised for application and the application deadline is June 22. It is expected that the new CEO of the institute will be appointed on September 1, and Þórörna will be appointed for that time.

Guðjón, the outgoing CEO of HSA, is thanked for his successful collaboration, strong work and important contribution to the development and growth of healthcare in East Iceland in recent years. He is also wished the best of luck and success in his new role as CEO of Akureyri Hospital.

At the same time, we wish Þórörna Gró congratulations on her new role and success in her work as acting CEO of HSA. With her experience and knowledge of the organization's operations, she is well-placed to lead HSA in the coming months.
