HSN takes over the operation of the nursing home Sæborg in Skagaströnd.

The Healthcare Institution of North Iceland will take over the operation of the nursing home Sæborg in Skagaströnd from May 1st 2025.

HSN Skagastrond

This is according to the decision of Willum Þór, former Minister of Health, following the termination of the contracts for the operation of the nursing home by Social and School Services A-Hún bs. The operation of the home has become increasingly burdensome in recent years and has been a drag on the operations of the municipalities that have been responsible for its operation.

The Healthcare Institution of North Iceland operates approximately 200 nursing and hospital facilities in North Iceland, including Blönduós and Sauðárkrókur. The operations of Sæborg are therefore well integrated with the operations of the institution. A more professional synergy can be expected with the transfer of the nursing home to HSN. The employees will have access to a stronger professional education and HSN's information and quality systems.

All employees will be offered continued work at HSN. No significant change is planned in the operations of the nursing home from the current situation.
