Autumn reception for children and adolescents with ADHD opens
The Healthcare Institution of East Iceland is currently working on opening a reception centre for children and adolescents who are receiving medication for ADHD. The team will follow up with children and adolescents up to the age of 18 in all of East Iceland. The team's establishment will be in Egilsstaðir for the time being.
The extent of follow-up varies and depends on the age of the child and the needs of each child and their family. However, follow-up will never be less than once a semester with a nurse and annually with a doctor.
Follow-up will be followed with vital signs, height and weight. Furthermore, information will be requested about diet, sleep, kippi, convulsions and mental health problems. Furthermore, questions may be asked about the habits in the home and possible changes in the child's behaviour. The possibility of medication interruption may be discussed.
The formal opening of the reception is planned for mid-September 2025. Until then, it is possible to send inquiries to the team nurse at the e-mail address.
