The HSN executive board has submitted a review to the effect that it welcomes the parliamentary resolution proposal that a permanent base for the Coast Guard´s helicopter will be in Akureyri and that it wholeheartedly supports the proposal of the speakers in Parliament.

It was also stated in the review that the arrangement will improve services and safety for residents and tourists in the north and east of the country, as well as in sea areas. The Executive Board of HSN believes that with a permanent helicopter base in Akureyri, the infrastructure of emergency and response services will be strengthened and the response time will be shorter, which can make a difference. The executive board of HSN also considers the proposal reasonable in light of risk distribution when looking at distances, weather conditions and unpredictable external factors.

It is the hope of the HSN executive board that the proposal will be approved by the members of Parliament.
