The East Iceland Healthcare Authority is recognised by the Gender Equality Instrument

The East Iceland Healthcare Authority was recognised by the Icelandic Centre for Gender Equality for the second year in a row. The balance sheet provided approval to 56 companies, 11 municipalities and 22 public entities from among the 239 participants who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The goal of the Balance Balance Balance Balance is to encourage Icelandic business to become a role model for equality by balancing gender in the top layer of organizational management. The HSA is responsible for ensuring that the gender ratio is at least 40/60, with women making up 3 of 5 members of the executive board and therefore a 60% proportion of women.

Despite laws on equal rights of men and women and laws on gender quotas on boards, the status of women has not changed. According to the dashboard The balance of the FKA is that of women on the boards of companies in Iceland, 27%, and that of female CEOs/executives, 23.9%. It is possible that the proportion of women on boards has increased by 2% in the past 10 years and in as many years the proportion of CEOs/executives has increased by 3%. Women are only 21% of managers in the labour market in Iceland and 24% of managers of institutions and municipalities are involved.
