Temporary suspension of asylum applications from Syrians

The Directorate of Immigration has decided to suspend the processing of applications for international protection from Syrians due to the highly uncertain situation in Syria.

The suspension covers applications where the situation in Syria is the basis of the Directorate’s decision, that is, applications that are taken into substantive processing. Applications for protection that are processed on an alternative basis, which leads to the applicant’s return to another state deemed safe, will continue to be processed.

The decision is temporary and will be reviewed in May.
