Temporary Drone Flight Ban in the Westfjords 12 August 2026
At the request of the Chief of Police for the Westfjords, all drone flights will be prohibited within two designated areas in the Westfjords.
Date: 12 August 2026
Time: Kl. 15:00 - 19:00
Applies to all altitudes within the designated restricted areas, marked by red boxes on the accompanying map.
The drone flight ban has been imposed for safety reasons, as a large number of people are expected to gather in these areas to observe the total solar eclipse.
Exemptions: Drone flights are permitted only with special authorisation from the Chief of Police for the Westfjords. Requests for exemptions should be sent to: vestfirdir@logreglan.is
The ban has been imposed pursuant to Article 3(d) of Regulation No. 1360/2024.
