Autumn Courses

Basic Icelandic Sign Language Course for Parents and Family Members Sign Language Children Instruction is arranged by agreement with participants. The course is free of charge for parents and family members of deaf and sign language children.

Intermediate Icelandic Sign Language Course for Parents and Family Members of Sign Language Children Instruction is arranged by agreement with participants. The course is free of charge for parents and family members of deaf and sign language children.

Sign Language Café Gatherings for Parents of Sign Language Children The aim of this course is to strengthen parents’ Icelandic Sign Language skills in a friendly and informal environment, providing opportunities to learn, practice, and connect with other parents. Sessions will be held at the Communication Centre for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SHH) or at cafés around the city. Classes take place every other Tuesday, beginning on 15 September and ending on 8 December, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The course is intended for participants who already have a basic knowledge of Icelandic Sign Language.

Intermediate Course for Deaf Immigrants This course is intended for deaf immigrants who already have some foundation in Icelandic Sign Language. Classes are held once a week on Mondays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, beginning on 7 September and ending on 14 December. The course is offered to deaf immigrants through the Icelandic Directorate of Labour.

Icelandic Sign Language (ÍTM A1–1) – Day Course for Beginners Classes are held on Mondays from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The course consists of 30 hours and runs from 7 September to 14 December. Course fee: ISK 39,750.

Icelandic Sign Language (ÍTM A1–1) – Evening Course for Beginners Classes are held on Mondays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The course consists of 30 hours and runs from 7 September to 14 December. Course fee: ISK 49,700.

Icelandic Sign Language (ÍTM A1–2) – Evening Course. This course is a continuation of ÍTM A1–1. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The course consists of 30 hours and runs from 9 September to 16 December. Course fee: ISK 49,700.

Icelandic Sign Language (ÍTM A1–3) – Evening Course. This course is a continuation of ÍTM A1–2. Classes are held on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The course consists of 30 hours and runs from 9 September to 16 December. Course fee: ISK 49,700.

Please note that all courses offered are free of charge for deaf people and their family members. If you are eligible for free sign language instruction, you must apply for eligibility before registering for a course.
