Road safety for all
During this time of year drivers tend to start speeding.

Many drivers have been fined in the wake of the latest offence, but in the last few days drivers have faced a suspension of their licenses. One of them is a 17-year-old boy who was driving at 160 km/h on a road with a maximum speed limit of 80. Another, a man in his twenties, was driving at 162 km/h on the same road the day before, but both have been subject to a suspension of their licenses for three months, plus a fine of ISK 250 each. A 19-year-old boy will also be subject to a suspension of his license for three months, but his car was travelling at 135 km/h on Miklabraut, near Hvassaleiti, on Saturday. There, the maximum speed limit is 60, but in addition to the suspension, the driver will be fined ISK 180.
Furthermore, the book of fines has been published on more occasions in recent days, including drivers who drove against red light, in a one-way traffic and took a U-turn, as this is prohibited. The use of mobile phones by drivers is also not an example, but yesterday ten drivers were fined for talking on the phone without a hands-free device, and each of them is fined ISK 40. Finally, it should be noted that since Friday, thirty drivers have been arrested for drink and/or drug driving in the District, a practice that is of great concern.
Drivers are reminded to respect the traffic laws, always and everywhere.
Not just to avoid unnecessary expenses, but to promote road safety for everyone.
