Respiratory tract infections. Week 1 in 2024
In a recent review the frequency of respiratory infections and hospitalizations due to them is reviewed and the situation in Iceland is compared to Europe.
Diagnoses of influenza and RSV increased this winter, which is expected, but the increase has only slowed recently. The number of diagnoses of COVID-19 has also decreased. The number of admissions to Landspítala with/due to respiratory infections continues to increase, and the percentage of those diagnosed during or admitted with RSV or influenza has increased.
In a new summary (Icelandic), the incidence of respiratory diseases in the first week of 2024 is reviewed in more detail.
