Electrical defence weapons used three times in first quarter
The National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police has published a quarterly report on the use of an electrical weapon in police.

Electronic weapons were introduced as a tool for the use of force by the police in September 2024. The weapons are on the same level in the use of force as bats and defence spray and give the police greater possibilities to choose the defence equipment that is suitable for each task. This is to increase the security of the public and the police.
In the last quarter of 2024, police used an electrical weapon twice in the course of an arrest.
In the first quarter, police have used an electrical weapon three times in the arrest.
In September 2024, an electrical protection weapon was reduced to a sheath and/or threatened with the device four times.
In 13 cases in the last quarter of 2024, the device was used to reduce the sheath of a person and/or threaten him during an arrest, the same was the case in 28 cases in the first quarter of this year.
