President of Iceland visited Móberg
We had an extremely pleasant visit yesterday on January 12th, 2023, when the President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson came to watch the HM Handball game with the residents of the nursing home Móberg.
An exciting and entertaining first game for the Icelandic team that won the game, and the team receives greetings from everyone at HSU. We asked the President to sign a ball on the occasion of the visit and it will be preserved in Moberg for some time to come.
We thank the President very much for his visit and include the text of his facebook page about the visit:
“Great win for our boys tonight! I enjoyed watching the game with the residents of Móberg, the good residence in Selfoss. This town is a magnificent breeding ground for powerful handball players, certainly close to the world record for the number of national team players in terms of population. The Icelandic team bore a mourning band because of the death of Karl G. Benediktsson, a former player and national team coach. Blessed be his memory.
I thank the residents and staff of Móberg for their hospitality and kindness. They send their greetings to our team abroad. Tonight's win is a promising one. Now it is the next game against dynamic Hungary on Saturday. Go Iceland!”
