Possibilities in the authorisation system on Ísland.is

Individuals who do not have an electronic ID can register a representative by filling out a paper form. The person who receives the mandate can then easily handle various matters on My Pages on Ísland.is.

The process is simple: fill out the form available here, have two witnesses confirm the application, and then send it to the District Commissioner via Ísland.is. The person who receives the mandate will then receive an email notification when the District Commissioner has activated the mandate, usually within two to three days. It is also possible to submit the form in paper format at a District Commissioner's office.

A mandate can always be revoked, both through My Pages and in person at a District Commissioner's office anywhere in the country.

This functionality only provides access to the digital services of public entities that have connected to the Ísland.is Authorisation system. An overview of these entities can be found under the “Access control” button on My Pages.

Over 500 individuals have already activated such a general mandate on paper with the District Commissioner, and it is possible to choose whether the mandate is temporary or not.
