New radiologist appointed
Akureyri Hospital has appointed radiologist Cristian M. Arriagada Godoy to its staff. He will begin working in mid-September and will become a permanent member of our team of professionals.

Cristian is originally from Chile but moved to Spain, where he completed both his specialization in radiology and his doctoral studies. Since 2015, he has been fully certified in interventional procedures by the European Board of Radiology and has more than ten years of experience in both academic and clinical work at university hospitals and medical schools.
“I have a particular interest in direct communication with patients, image-guided procedures, and clinical practice. I also enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams, supporting junior doctors and students, and contributing to research and education,” says Cristian.
His expertise covers a broad range of vascular and non-vascular interventions, including vascular procedures related to dialysis, urological surgery, gastroenterology, and several other specialties.
“I look forward to starting work at Akureyri Hospital. For me, it is very important to work in a strong and well-coordinated team where professional ambition and personal life are in balance. I am convinced that here I can both contribute and grow as a physician,” he adds.
Cristian’s appointment is an important reinforcement for the Department of Imaging, strengthening both its services and professional capacity for the future.
We look forward to working with him and extend a warm welcome to Cristian as he joins the Akureyri Hospital team.
