ÖBÍ Access Award to Ísland.is
The project For Grindavík, by Ísland.is, won an accessibility prize at the Icelandic Web Awards.
On the website For Grindavík, various applications are available, from the application of the response service for access to the town to applications for the purchase of residential housing.
The excellent work of ÖBÍ in raising awareness and fighting for access to the digital world is exemplary and very rewarding that they have chosen Ísland.is project: For Grindavík, as the winner in accessibility.
Multi-disciplinary framework contract
The attached lists some important dates in connection with the Multi-disciplinary Framework Contract Offering of Digital Iceland. All information can be found on Útboð.is.
8 April: Submission of tenders and their opening.
5 May: Aim for assignments to qualified teams. Teams will have 72 hours to complete.
8 - 9 May: Teams will be presented with projects.

3040 electric car grants in 2024
The grants range from ISK 400 to 900 thousand, but the total amount awarded is ISK 2.5 billion. Electric car grants are one example of several public processes where the technology has been successfully used for efficiency purposes.
Foster parents in the Ísland.is proxy system
The mediation of foster parents in the case of a permanent foster has been implemented and is now connected through a web service from the National Registry in the Ísland.is authentication system.
First bank to return estate data
Landsbanki now digitally exchanges information on the status of assets and liabilities of the deceased on the day of death directly to the District Commissioners' estate system. This applies, for example, to the status of bank accounts and residential mortgages.
Return driving licence
The production of driving licences has been moved from Hungary to Iceland, which will shorten the production time and transportation costs. Driving licences are applied for at the District Commissioners, but the additional service is now available to get the driving licence sent home.
New Data Manager for Ísland.is
Hlynur Bjarki Karlsson has been hired as Chief Data Officer of Digital Iceland. Hlynur comes from Marel and will start this summer. We welcome Hlynur and look forward to having him in the job.

Meetings of the Icelandic community
On the weekend of 7–8 March 2025, entrepreneurs, experts, and intellectuals joined forces to solve challenges of the healthcare system in Iceland. KLAK - Icelandic Startups Ideas Race organized the meeting. Digital Iceland was one of the sponsors.
On March 13, Digital Iceland held a briefing on the framework contract award for interdisciplinary software teams. The meeting was well attended both in real world and in streaming. A recording of the meeting can be found in the procurement corridors on the website of the Financial Management Authority,
