News report from the Suðurnes Police and the University of Iceland Pharmaceutical and Toxicology Laboratory

The police in Suðurnes are investigating a criminal case involving the seizure of approximately 20,000 tablets that are made to look like Oxycontin 80 mg tablets by the Icelandic Customs at Keflavík Airport.

In addition, the packaging is labelled as such. The investigation has revealed that it is a tablet containing so called "nitazene" and is manufactured on an illegal market.

The tablets were in aluminium foil labelled Mundipharma A/S and should according to the label contain oxycodone.
