New issue of criminal records
New and improved version of digital criminal record are now available
All individuals can now retrieve criminal records through a digital application, irrespective of their criminal records status. Previously, only digital criminal records were issued without violation.
Criminal records now automatically have a translation into English, so it is no longer necessary to apply specifically for a certificate in English.
The application is in the new application system for Ísland.is and also connected to the new payment system for Ísland.is. Payment receipts will be immediately visible under Fjármál in My Pages Ísland.is
The application is linked to the internal system of the District Commissioners so consultants can therefore monitor all cases and provide services if necessary.
In 2021, the District Commissioners delivered about 14,000 criminal records. Of those, about 10,000 were picked up electronically, or 70%.
