It is now possible to pay for selected applications on Ísland.is using a bank payment claim. Until now, payment by card has been the only option available, but this well-established payment method has now been added to provide users with greater flexibility.
The solution is integrated with the Ísland.is payment system, allowing users to choose whether to pay by card or by bank payment claim. If a user chooses to pay by payment claim, the claim is created instantly and becomes immediately available in the applicant’s online banking service. Businesses can also receive payment claims through electronic messaging services and process them within their financial systems.
Once the payment claim has been settled, the application is processed without delay and the requested service is delivered in the same manner as when payment is made by card.
This payment option is particularly well suited to businesses that wish to receive invoices and payment instructions through electronic messaging services, pay them through those channels, and automatically record the transactions in their accounting systems.
Examples of services that can now be paid for using a bank payment claim include transfers of ownership of equipment handled by the Administration of Occupational Safety and Health, reassessments of fire insurance valuations and the registration of new properties handled by the Housing and Construction Authority, as well as applications for driver cards for digital tachographs processed by the Icelandic Transport Authority.
In the near future, an additional payment option will be introduced, enabling users to make payments by direct bank transfer from their bank accounts.
