New application process for housing benefits on Ísland.is
HMS has taken the first step in moving the application process for housing benefits from HMS to Ísland.is. It is now possible to apply for housing benefits on Ísland.is, and the aim is for the entire application process to have moved there by the beginning of next year.
In the meantime, it will still be possible to log in to My Pages on the HMS website to make changes to an application after it has been submitted, access payment statements and set up payment spreading. Once the transfer of the application process has been completed, the current system on HMS's My Pages will be discontinued.
What is changing?
Applications for housing benefits are made on Ísland.is
The necessary data must be available before an application is sent to HMS, such as information on the lease agreement, legal domicile registration and tax return
Once an application has been sent to HMS, it is then processed
The aim of the changes is to make the application process simpler, clearer and more user-friendly, and to ensure that applications reach HMS for processing once the necessary information is available.
It is therefore now possible both to apply for housing benefits and register a lease agreement with HMS in the same process on Ísland.is.
