Man of the year and honorary recognition

On the Icelandic Sign Language Day and the anniversary of the Deaf Society, on 11 February, the three-member board of the Society recognised three members for excellence in their work and everyday tasks.

On the Icelandic Sign Language Day and the anniversary of the Deaf Society, on 11 February, the three-member board of the Society recognised three members for excellence in their work and everyday tasks.

Kristinn Arnar Diego was awarded an honorary doctoral degree for her scientific paper which was prepared from his Master's thesis in Disability Studies and which discusses the situation of Deaf people in Iceland. He graduated in 2020, and the article was published in 2022 in the Journal of Deaf Studies and Deaf Education. The board considered her an important contribution to research on the status of Deaf people in Iceland.

Júlía G. Hreinsdóttir received an honorary recognition for her masters thesis in pedagogy, the Icelandic Sign Language. The board considers the project to be an important source of information on the struggles of Deaf people with Icelandic Sign Language.

Uldis Ozols was recognised as the "Man of the Year 2022" for culture and the arts, especially for his role in the play "Eyja", which was screened in the winter of 2022 at the National Theatre.
