Learn About Soils at the Land and Forest Iceland Stand at Researchers' Night

Visitors to the Land and Forest Iceland stand will have the opportunity to explore different soil types, plants, fungi and soil fauna, both with the naked eye and through microscopes. The exhibition will demonstrate how soils shape habitats and ecosystems, and how ecosystem restoration based on scientific knowledge, measurement and monitoring can help rebuild and strengthen biodiversity across the wide range of vegetation ecosystems found in Iceland.

Specialists from Land and Forest Iceland will welcome visitors and share their knowledge at the organisation’s stand. Researchers' Night in Iceland is organised by Rannís in cooperation with Icelandic universities and research institutions. Similar events are held simultaneously in major cities across Europe on the last weekend of September each year under the international banner of Researchers' Night.

The aim of these events is to encourage people to reflect on the importance of research and science in modern society. Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive presentations, organisers seek to provide enjoyable and educational experiences for the whole family, with participation and discovery playing a central role. No field of science is excluded, and visitors can explore subjects ranging from the humanities to the natural sciences. The programme includes science cafés, science slams, public engagement activities and much more.
