Landspitali, now on Ísland.is

Landspitali - University Hospital has moved its website to Ísland.is. This is one of the largest and most complex websites to be updated in line with the content and design strategy of Ísland.is.

Landspítali is among the largest workplaces in Iceland. It serves as both the national hospital, providing general and specialised medical services, and a university hospital offering professional training, specialisation, and a wide range of research activities.

The structure of the new website reflects these diverse roles, with a clear distinction between content for the general public and for healthcare professionals. Content migrated from the previous site has been simplified and shortened, and all text has also been translated into English — with the aim of ensuring that all material is clear, accessible, and user-friendly.

The project manager representing Landspitali in this extensive project was Sirrý Sigurðardóttir, web team lead, who discusses its scope and key focus areas in this video (in Icelandic).

A total of 63 public entity websites are now part of Ísland.is. The main advantages for public entities are access to shared tools, an operating environment, and expertise in the field. The content of the websites is accessible to all Ísland.is users through search and navigation systems and is set up in accordance with design and content strategies that ensure a good and consistent user experience.
