Ísland.is older login service closes

The older Ísland.is authentication system will be discontinued on September 1st 2024.

Following the development and launch of a new and improved Ísland.is authentication service, the older service will be discontinued as well as Icekey. Steps toward this change have already been taken and new registrations for the service were stopped in May 2023. In the beginning of next year, support for the service will gradually be reduced and finally fully closed on 1. September 2024.

The new athentication service, together with a delegation system, has been named Authentication for All and is available for institutions and municipalities to use as an eID authentication service. It is therefore only optional for public entities to apply for that services.
