Interruption of telecommunication connection today

Early this afternoon, all communications were cut off, which had a significant impact on the Akureyri Hospital. Communications were not possible via telephone, the internet or Tetra-radio system for about 17 minutes, and the hospital was therefore out of communications.

A response plan for the breakdown of the telephone system was activated, which assumes that the Tetra system will be used in the event of a breakdown of the telephone connection. A further analysis of the impact of this incident is underway, but it is clear that the breakdown could have had serious consequences for the operation of SAk.

The fault was attributed to a call center in Akureyri and further investigation is now pending.
