When the Chief of Police became aware of the content of yesterday's debate on Kveikur, the case was already sent, at the initiative of the Office, for examination by the Office of the Prosecutor General. In direct consequence, the officer in question was sent on leave while his investigation is under way.

In this case, the Office of the Chief of Police in the Capital Area has also initiated a review of the additional work of employed police officers. Rules are in effect regarding this as it is assumed that special authorization is required to carry out other work in parallel.

The Office takes this matter very seriously. It is vital that the police enjoy trust among citizens so that they can grow their role. There are clear requirements that the police work is carried out professionally and within the powers and rules that they operate. If there is a failure, these matters are dealt with with with determination.

Otherwise, the office will not comment on the case currently being examined by the State Prosecutor.
