Further claim denied

The Reykjanes District Court issued a judgment yesterday, on July 1, 2026, and acquitted NTÍ of a company’s claim for additional compensation for damage to a building in Grindavík. The house was damaged in the earthquake on November 10, 2023. The company and the appraisers from the Natural catastrophe insurance of Iceland disagreed on how much the damage was and what compensation should be paid. NTÍ thought the damage should be covered with payments of around 16 million ISK, but the company’s representatives did not agree with that assessment and demanded an additional 12 million ISK. That claim was rejected by the Reykjanes District Court.
