Fjársýslan (e. The Financial Management Authority) has completed an advisory project in cooperation with Innovation Procurement Hubs, a European initiative under the Public Buyers Community that supports public buyers across the European Economic Area in strengthening public procurement of innovation.

The project focused on strengthening Fjársýslan’s approach to preparing innovation procurement, particularly in the early stages before a formal procurement procedure begins. Emphasis was placed on needs assessment, market dialogue, and the development of requirements for tender documents. The project also introduced practical examples and templates that can support more targeted, transparent, and consistent procurement preparation.

The advisory support also addressed governance and mindset in relation to innovation procurement, with the aim of building a shared understanding of how public procurement can support innovation and better solutions in public services.

Fjársýslan’s participation forms part of the organisation’s ongoing work to develop public procurement practices and support public buyers in professional preparation, active market engagement, and increased innovation in procurement.
