Travel gift - project history

About the project:

The present is a part of supporting Icelandic tourism in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and thereby strengthening Icelandic tourism as well as encouraging Icelanders to have good times travelling across the country. Further information can be found on travel.is.

Challenge:

The project was part of a government package of measures in response to the coronavirus outbreak, timelines and speed of implementation were important, as it was important that the public could use the travel gift during the summer months.

The Icelandic Travel Act was prepared alongside the technical implementation. It was important that the implementation met the legislation and that the legislation would cover all implementations.

Benefits:

Effective technological development was achieved by offering the public the opportunity to utilize the solution that is resisted in the Icelandic tourism industry. Travel companies can receive the Travel gift in a simple manner with a minimum amount of work.

What were the main goals?

• The goal was to do digital Tourism and use Icelandic technology.

• The gift of travel was to be simple to use and fun to use.

• The travel gift should work everywhere, whether the customer is using it on site or on the website.
