Election observing for the municipal elections

The delegations that conducted election observation during the municipal elections expressed satisfaction with the reception they received at polling stations and counting centers across the country.

The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and the British organization Democracy Volunteers came to Iceland to observe the municipal elections.

In a statement from the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, it is noted that the election process was efficient and that a positive atmosphere prevailed at polling stations. The release also welcomes how accessible and participation‑oriented the Icelandic electoral process is, as voters have extensive opportunities to cast their ballots both on election day and through early voting.
