Drone ban near submarine
Due to the arrival of a submarine of the US Navy, the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police has requested a no-fly zone for drones nearby.
The submarine USS Newport News will be on a service visit to Icelandic territorial waters until 14 July 2025. Due to security measures, drones are not allowed to fly within 500 metres of the submarine, where it is located at any given time.
The drone ban is established on the basis of Article 3(d) of Regulation 1360/2024.
