Digital Iceland wins international awards

Digital Iceland is one of the winners of the WSA awards for 2023. in a category that focuses on Government & Citizen Engagement.

Digital Iceland, which works to improve digital public services through the Ísland.is platform, wins the WSA award (World Summit Awards) this year. The WSA annually awards projects that promote digital innovation for social improvement. Awards are awarded in eight categories and Digital Iceland receives an award in the category of Government & Citizen Engagement.

Projects from 182 states were eligible, with five winners selected for each category. multinational group of experts from around the world makes up the award's jury. The awards will be delivered during the planet_hack_ congress that takes place in Patagonia, Chile in April, where one winner will be chosen in each category - the so-called Global winner.

The WSA was established by the United Nations in 2003 and its goal is to improve access for all to the digital world. The WSA evaluates projects based on their impact on the local community and how they support the UN's world objectives.

Digital Iceland is a project agency within the Ministry of Finance and Economy. 11 people work there, but more than 250 employees of institutions and partner companies contribute to the Ísland.is community. Digital Iceland assists public institutions in improving digital services for the public by making services clearer, simpler, and faster.
