The National Electoral Commission opened a digital recommendation collection system yesterday for the general elections on 30 November. Political organizations that have been assigned a list letter from the Ministry of Justice can now start a digital voter registration system for their candidacies in all constituencies. The digital voter registration system was developed in collaboration between Digital Iceland and the National Registry and was developed when it became clear that the elections would be held at the end of November. In the last few days, the development was carried out quickly to complete the development needed to open the system on Thursday 17 October. A well-coordinated group on the digital solution from Digital Iceland, the National Electoral Commission, the National Registry and the software team from Júní and Stefnu worked on the project and some of the core services of Digital Iceland, such as Ísland.is, registration for all and the application system of Digital Iceland, were used. The system that was developed was based on the voter registration system from the presidential elections in the spring with some adjustments and the website kosning.is now refers to the general elections.
