Great participation was at the Connecting the State yesterday, for the third time it is held.

Around 400 people made their way to Harpa, and a large number watched online. Services received about 1200 visits through streaming, development about 500, and Opportunities about 500 as well.

Many interesting and informational talks were held by a number of professionals, both from the public sector as well as the private sector. The key speaker at this time was Kevin Cunnington the former UK director of GDS (Government Digital Services), one of the leaders in the digital development of the public sector in that country. Kevin led us through a new study that explores what digital leaders need to succeed and the main obstacles for institutions to digital journeys. Then we got a message from Dr. Silvija Seres who specializes in digital transformation.

At the end of the day, special accreditation was granted to three institutions for the Digital Steps they have taken. The Financial Management Authority, National Police Commissioner and the District commissioners.

The aim of the conference is to open up the dialogue between institutions and the private sector on digital services, encourage innovation and increase knowledge. For those who missed the day or for certain reasons talks will be made available in the coming days.

Connecting the State is a conference on the digital journey of the public sector, organised by Digital Iceland.
