Collaboration agreement on cancer treatment
Sjúkrahúsið á Akureyri and Landspítali – The National University Hospital of Iceland have entered into a collaboration agreement on cancer treatment services at SAk.
A team of four physicians from Landspítali will provide oncology services at SAk, rotating in three-day shifts in Akureyri.
The team includes two physicians who have worked at SAk for several years: hematologist Signý Vala Sveinsdóttir and oncologist Örvar Gunnarsson. They will be joined by two new oncologists, Þóra Rún Úlfarsdóttir and Ólöf Kristjana Bjarnadóttir.
“We are very pleased to have finalized this agreement and secured the continued provision of oncology and hematology services. We look forward to the collaboration and to seeing the service further strengthened and developed,” says Guðni Arnar Guðnason, Acting Head of Internal Medicine.
