Recently, Berglind Soffía Ásbjörnsdóttir Blöndal was appointed as a nutritionist at the Health Care Institution of North Iceland (HSN).

Berglind holds a B.Sc. degree in Nutrition, a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition, and a Ph.D. in Nutrition.
She brings extensive experience from the health care sector, having worked at Landspítali University Hospital, Akureyri Hospital, and Heilsuvernd. In addition, she has worked with VIRK and Birta Vocational Rehabilitation in South Iceland. Alongside her clinical work, she has been a part-time lecturer at the University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri since 2015.
Clinical nutritionists have a unique expertise and training within the field of nutrition, which is a highly complex science whose importance is often underestimated.
Specialized nutritional counseling is an integral part of strong health care services
“Our duty as clinical nutritionists is to provide the best possible treatment based on the best available knowledge at any given time. My work focuses on supporting people with very diverse needs, both through prevention and treatment,” she explains. “I provide education and work with various client groups, including children, pregnant women, adults, the elderly, and individuals facing specific health challenges such as illness, intolerance, allergies, or malnutrition. I also work with people who simply want to improve their eating habits or take a closer look at their nutrition for better health. I handle applications for reimbursement of nutritional supplements of all kinds through Icelandic Health Insurance for the groups I serve and follow up on treatment to maximize results. Furthermore, I act as a consultant for all health care professionals at the clinic whenever nutrition-related issues or questions arise among patients.”
Berglind is originally from Siglufjörður but now lives in Hveragerði with her family. We warmly welcome her to our team.
Berglind’s life motto: Show everyone respect, tolerance, and care, and stay optimistic and patient—then everything works out wonderfully!
