Beneficiaries of Akureyri Hospital give new endoscopic system

Hollvinir, the beneficiaries of Akureyri Hospital gifted the hospital brand new endoscopic systems to replace older systems. The new systems provides the best possible technology to treat problems in good and safe working conditions that ensure even better patient safety.

Endoscopic systems are used to perform various procedures where it is possible to access the area with a smaller incision. A camera is inserted into the body cavity along with instruments to perform interventions. Examples of such interventions are operations in the abdomen, on the gallbladder, appendix, female organs, colon and small intestine, but also joint endoscopies, catheter endoscopies, gastrointestinal endoscopies, prostate endoscopies and operations on kidney stones.
