Applications for seal hunting licence for own consumption
Applications for seal hunting licences for 2024 are now open.
Regulation on ban on seal hunting stipulates that seal hunting is not permitted in Icelandic territory (in the sea, rivers and lakes). The Directorate of Fisheries can issue a licence for seal hunting for own use in exceptional circumstances laid down in the regulation.
The Directorate of Fisheries has opened applications for seal hunting for own consumption for the year 2024.
The application deadline is 15th October 2023.
Applications shall be submitted by a special form to fiskistofa@fiskistofa.is or by a letter to the address: Fiskistofa, Borgum við Norðurslóð 600 Akureyri.
